Sustainability is very important to Petra and is integral to the way the Group structures and operates its mining, development and exploration projects. The Petra Group now encompasses over 4,600 people in South Africa, Tanzania and Botswana, and as such is a significant employer in Africa. Petra is proud to have taken over various operations which might otherwise have been shut down, and to have put in place long mining lives, which will ensure continuous stable employment for the Company’s workforce.

HSSE Committee
Petra’s Health, Safety, Social and Environmental (“HSSE”) Committee’s role is to formulate and recommend to the Board the Group’s policy on all relevant health, safety, social and environmental issues as they affect the Group’s operations, and it ensures that the Board is cognisant of, and takes account of, mining corporate social responsibility best practice.
Community and Social
Petra is cognisant that, as a mining company, it is exploiting a finite resource and that there is a window of opportunity for the Company to play a role in the social and economic upliftment of the communities in which it operates.
