Petra has seven producing mines in South Africa – Finsch, Cullinan, Koffiefontein, Kimberley Underground, Helam, Sedibeng and Star – and one in Tanzania – the Williamson mine. The Group produced 2.2 million carats in FY 2012 and its core objective is to steadily increase annual production to over 5 million carats by FY 2019.
Operating Mines
The Group’s portfolio incorporates the full range of kimberlite ‘hardrock’ operations, combining major underground pipe mines with low-tonnage, high-grade fissure mines and one large high-volume open pit mine.
Exploration
Petra’s exploration activities are focused in Botswana, the world’s largest diamond producer by value and host to two of the world’s most important diamond mines, Orapa and Jwaneng.
